The collection consists of a copy of an unpublished official army history (author unknown) entitled "The Story of the Alaska Communications System, 1900-1943." The history covers the period from the first development of the Washington-Alaska Military Cable and Telegraph System (WAMCATS) to the completion of the Alaska Highway Telephone Line. The appendices include route maps, Acts of Congress, charts on income and expeditures, lists of chief signal officers and officers in charge of the system, a system diagram, and a list of radio stations.
